Frequently asked questions
What licence do I need to ride a Streetdog 50?
A Car licence is all that is required in New Zealand.
You can ride a Streetdog 50 on a Car licence (C class) in SA, QLD, WA, or NT in Australia. However, a Motorcycle licence (R class) is required in ACT, NSW, TAS, and VIC.
What's the difference between the Streetdog 50 and Streetdog XR?
The biggest difference between the Streetdog 50 and the Streetdog XR comes down to how and where you ride.
Choose the Streetdog 50 if...
The Streetdog 50 is designed for everyday urban commuting. With a top speed of 50 km/h, it's suitable for licence-free riding in many regions, making it the easiest way to get on two wheels.
Its lower ride height inspires confidence around town, while its highly efficient powertrain delivers an impressive real-world range of 80–100 km on a single charge. It also comes in at a lower price than the XR.
For riders wanting a little more capability, the Raised Performance Pack upgrade adds the XR's longer front forks, longer rear swingarm and longer-travel rear shocks, increasing ground clearance and improving handling.
Choose the Streetdog XR if...
The Streetdog XR is built for riders who want to travel faster and venture further beyond the city centre.
A more powerful rear hub motor and upgraded motor controller deliver a top speed of 85 km/h, while the longer front forks, longer rear swingarm and longer-travel rear shocks come standard, providing increased ground clearance and greater confidence on rougher roads.
Its real-world range is 60–80 km, trading some battery efficiency for significantly higher performance.
Shared by both
Whichever Streetdog you choose, you'll get the same handcrafted build quality, removable battery, integrated storage and premium components. Both models now come standard with the more upright high-rise handlebars, while Café Racer handlebars remain available as an optional upgrade for riders who prefer a sportier riding position.
In short, if your riding is mostly around town and you value maximum range, affordability and licence accessibility, the Streetdog 50 is likely the better fit. If you want the extra performance and capability, the Streetdog XR is the one to choose.
How does pick up or delivery work?
Customers can choose to collect their Streetdog 50 from a regional delivery partner at a fixed cost, or request delivery to an address. In some cases a custom quote will be required.

FTN Motion provides nationwide servicing and repairs across New Zealand and Australia, supported by a growing network of trusted service and repair partners.
Always contact FTN Motion for any servicing or repair requests, and we will refer you to your nearest approved partner if necessary.
Do I need a second battery?
You can get 80-100 km range with a single battery, which for lot of our riders is enough.
The Streetdog 50 includes a 30 L storage compartment, allowing you to carry a second battery and get up to 180 km range.
The other use case for a second battery is so you can always have one ready to go at home, so when you do need to charge, you an simple switch and go.
How does charging work?
The Streetdog XR comes with a charger, and because the battery is removable, you can easily charge the battery from any standard wall socket; at home or at the office.
You can also charge the Streetdog with the battery onboard.
Does the Streetdog 50 come with a warranty?
Yes. The warranty period is 24 months, or 10,000 km (whichever comes first) from the delivery date, covering all components, including the battery and the frame.
A used Streetdog 50 comes with a Used Vehicle Limited Warranty, which includes coverage for mechanical components and the battery. Paint and cosmetic wear are not covered.
Does the Streetdog 50 require a warrant of fitness?
No.
What's included in a Streetdog 50 order?

How do I safely clean my Streetdog 50?
A sponge, water and some motorcycle-appropriate cleaning soap will be enough to keep your Streetdog looking fresh.
We also advise to remove the battery when washing your bike.
