Frequently asked questions

What licence do I need to ride a Streetdog 50?

A Car licence is all that is required in New Zealand.

You can ride a Streetdog 50 on a Car licence (C class) in SA, QLD, WA, or NT in Australia. However, a Motorcycle licence (R class) is required in ACT, NSW, TAS, and VIC.

What's the difference between the Launch Edition Streetdog50 and Streetdog XR?

The Launch Edition Streetdog 50 carries forward several key upgrades developed while engineering the new Streetdog XR. These improvements enhance comfort, durability and everyday ride quality, while keeping the Streetdog 50 accessible to riders who don’t require a motorcycle licence.

Shared upgrades include higher handlebars for a more upright riding position and improved road presence, nitrogen-charged rear shocks for a smoother and more controlled ride, a redesigned die-cast alloy indicator switch for improved ergonomics and durability, and a matte black powder-coated frame for greater long-term resilience. These features are all included on the Launch Edition Streetdog 50, although café racer handlebars will remain available as an alternative configuration once the launch edition period closes.

The main differences come down to performance and capability.

The Streetdog XR is designed for higher speeds. It features longer front forks, rear swingarm and longer-travel shocks that increase ground clearance, and a rear hub motor that allows it to reach speeds of up to 80 kph. Real-world range is typically around 60–80 km.

The Streetdog 50 retains a lower ride height and a 50 km/h top speed, making it suitable for licence-free riding in many regions. In return, it delivers a longer real-world range of around 80–100 km and comes in at a slightly lower price.

How does pick up or delivery work?

Customers can choose to collect their Streetdog 50 from a regional delivery partner at a fixed cost, or request delivery to an address. In some cases a custom quote will be required.

How does servicing and repairs work?

Regular servicing is essential to keep your Streetdog performing at its best — safely, reliably, and for years to come.

FTN Motion provides nationwide servicing and repairs across New Zealand and Australia, supported by a growing network of trusted service and repair partners.

Always contact FTN Motion for any servicing or repair requests, and we will refer you to your nearest approved partner if necessary.

Do I need a second battery?

You can get 80-100 km range with a single battery, which for lot of our riders is enough.

The Streetdog 50 includes a 30 L storage compartment, allowing you to carry a second battery and get up to 180 km range.

The other use case for a second battery is so you can always have one ready to go at home, so when you do need to charge, you an simple switch and go.

How does charging work?

The Streetdog XR comes with a charger, and because the battery is removable, you can easily charge the battery from any standard wall socket; at home or at the office.

You can also charge the Streetdog with the battery onboard.

Does the Streetdog 50 come with a warranty?

Yes. The warranty period is 24 months, or 10,000 km (whichever comes first) from the delivery date, covering all components, including the battery and the frame.

A used Streetdog 50 comes with a Used Vehicle Limited Warranty, which includes coverage for mechanical components and the battery. Paint and cosmetic wear are not covered.

Does the Streetdog 50 require a warrant of fitness?

No.

What's included in a Streetdog 50 order?

Your Streedog 50, with any configurations and accessories ordered, 1x Battery, 1x Charger, 1x Manual, 2x keys, and 2x FOB keys.

How do I safely clean my Streetdog 50?

A sponge, water and some motorcycle-appropriate cleaning soap will be enough to keep your Streetdog looking fresh.

We also advise to remove the battery when washing your bike.
